About Us


Experienced, qualified clinicians based within the Lancashire, Manchester, Greater Manchester and Leeds area, with a substantial experience of working within the National Health System (NHS). Clinicians are fully registered with and are regulated by appropriate main bodies. All treatment will be based upon evidence-based practice as cited in National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines.

Nourishing Minds Psychological Therapy service offers you a safe and confidential setting to talk about the difficulties you are experiencing and how your negative thoughts, feelings, emotions and behaviour maybe limiting your quality of life. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a short term therapy which focuses on the current difficulties you are experiencing. Our aim is to provide a high-quality private psychological therapy service for mild to moderate mental health problems.

Treatment is tailored to individual needs and offers an alternative to long waiting lists. We appreciate there is still some stigma attached to attending therapy sessions and as such we strive to meet client needs. We can provide therapy in the following languages: English, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu.

Haroon Afzal

Nourishing Minds Psychological Therapy service is co-ordinated/ provided by Psychologist, Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and EMDR Therapist, Haroon Afzal.

Haroon has significant experience of adults experiencing a range of psychological difficulties and has worked in Mental Health services for over 12 years. Haroon Afzal is a member of The British Psychological Society (BPS). As a qualified, accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) Therapist working within the NHS and as a member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP), Haroon has extensive experience of and current employment in the NHS mental health services for Adults. Working privately on alternative days.

We do not work with

  • Individuals under 16
  • High levels of risk.
  • Severe Eating disorders.
  • Severe Self Harm
  • History of anger management difficulties
